What about the freshmen and sophomore students—should they know about the possible consequences of their actions on others, and about their incapacity to consent?
I'm sure that opinions on this forum vary, so it would be interesting to hear each side back up their opinion. When I was a senior, I got along with some freshmen. There are some people that think it's such a bad thing for seniors to date freshmen.
I just don't understand why people automatically assume older=bad. Or a freshman dating a weed-smoking freshman that doesn't care about school and will drop out when he turns 16. If a 37 year old is trying to date a freshman, I could understand people thinking that's wrong. The age gap is not extreme as some people make it sound. There are other people that think there's nothing wrong with seniors dating freshmen.
What might work well in that environment would be completely different from a large, diversely populated school in a major city. The reason I'm asking is can you say statutory R-A-P-E? Seeing as freshman are 14 or 15, let's say the freshman is on the older end of the grade so she's 15. And the senior is on the younger end of the grade, he's 17 and he's a summer baby. The senior guy has the freshman girl's best interest in mind. He's not just looking for an easy freshman girl to have sex with.
When I read the responses on many threads I am frequently baffle, amazed and occasionally horrified. Most people on this forum are older (most not all) and having sex well it just didn't happen as much as it does now..people are against it because chances are if you are dating you are having sex-and I see where you are are from-not a big city so pickings are slim... In other words, the freshman turned 15 shortly after the senior turned 17. There are junior/sophomore/freshman guys that would have sex with a freshman girl.
Freshmen and seniors may have elective classes and/or play sports together. Yet they may not date or have sexual encounters without fear of life changing effects.
To most, it is common knowledge that people who have reached the age of majority should not be romantically involved with minors.
However, does a senior in high school feel like an adult?
Should a senior in high school be wary of getting into relationships with freshmen or sophomore students?
The parents of the victim sought Hunt’s prosecution based on their allegations that, pursuant to Florida law, Hunt and their daughter engaged in an inappropriate and illegal relationship.
