I have not been able to connect to my wireless router (Belkin N ) - it detects my wireless network, but when I click connect it says detecting network type, then says it is "validating identity" and doesn't connect (never gets to the point where it asks for my password).Never seen this validating identity when connecting any of our windows laptops tothe network sonot sure what it means/why it does it through Bootcamp. Cheers, David UPDATE: I've searched on some Windows forums and this error is because Windows is setting the wireless connection to authenticate, when the router is not expecting it to.

I have also read that WEP needs to be switched to WPA. When I enter the router password, the following message appears: the network password needs to be 40bits or 104bits depending on your configuration. I have seen this in the router properties (i.e - from Open to WPA), tried this, but then it wont connect at all. This can be entered as 5 or 13 as I characters or 10 or 26 hexadecimal characters. This can be entered as 5 or 13 as I characters or 10 or 26 hexadecimal characters.
Apparently de-selecting the Authentication checkbox on the advanced properties of the connection properties should fix it, but for me Windows automatically re-checks that checkbox getting me back to the validating identity problem.
Back to the XP forums, although I am starting to wonder if it is worth it... Connect to the router via the ethernet cable instead, install XP SP3 and what seems like a couple of hundred other updates via Windows Update.

It finds the router fine but stalls at 'validating identity'. It used to work so I know it's fundamentally ok.
